Chris Dougherty – CEO Alimco Financial Corporation
As of April 2023, ALR is led by an (re)insurance industry veteran, Chris Dougherty. Chris’ 30+ year career spans executive leadership roles across actuarial, underwriting , finance and risk management.
Over the last 10 years, Chris roles have included Insurance and Reinsurance CUO positions, as well as leading ceded reinsurance and alternative capital for a large global company.
Chris holds a bachelors degree from the University of Notre Dame, and is an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society.

Jon Marcus, Chairman
Advisor to MILFAM LLC, the family office for the estate of Lloyd I. Miller III. He has over thirty-five years of experience in the investment industry including particular expertise in securities of financially troubled companies. Through January 2018, Jon was a managing member and co-founder with Neil Subin of Broadbill Partners, L.P., an asset management company focused on special situations and distressed securities. Prior to Broadbill’s inception in 2011, he was the chief investment officer of Cypress Management, L.P., the predecessor fund to Broadbill, which he founded in 1995 to specialize in investing in distressed securities. Jon’s career also includes extensive investment banking and financial advisory work at Prudential-Bache Securities and Credit Suisse First Boston, with a substantial focus advising financially troubled companies or their creditors. He received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and his master’s degree from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Jon currently is Chairman and serves on the board of directors of Alimco Financial Corporation. Jon currently is Chairman of ALR and its parent Alimco Financial Corporation, and he also serves on the boards of directors of Kaspien Holdings Inc. and Anacomp Inc.
Dennis Johnson – Independent Director
Former Senior Vice President & Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO), Mr. Johnson became CUO of Falls Lake in April 2018. From 2012, he served as President and CEO of JRG Re, a subsidiary of Falls Lake engaged in the casualty reinsurance business. Prior to this, Mr. Johnson was employed by QBE Reinsurance Corp., the reinsurance division of QBE Insurance Group, from 1997 through 2012, having last served as Vice President and Casualty Treaty Manager. From 1991-1997, he served as Vice President and Casualty Treaty Manager at Great Lakes American Reinsurance Company. Before that, he served as Assistant Vice President at National Reinsurance Corporation. Mr. Johnson received his undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut and his MBA in Finance from Long Island University.

CEO and CUO of MultiStrat Group. Former Group Chief Underwriting Officer & Interim CEO, Head of Underwriting and Managing Director at Imagine Lloyd’s. Former Chief Operating Officer of Odyssey Re’s international companies and Managing Director of Riverstone UK, a Fairfax affiliate. Former agent and surplus lines broker. Previously Managing Director, Prudential Direct Mutual Funds. Board/advisory roles in various industries. CLU, CPCU, Cornell BSc, Columbia MBA.
